Finding the perfect rug for your space is not necessarily the easiest task. Since we moved into our new home, we’ve purchased several rugs, too many really. It’s one of those things that once you start, especially when you find a great deal, it’s hard to stop. One nice thing is they’re easy to move from space to space, just in case you make a rash decision on a rug and it ends up not working the way you had hoped.

Where can you find beautiful rugs?

We’ve never actually purchased a rug on Craigslist, but have sold one or two, so we know people shop Craigslist for rugs.

Pros - Prices can be lower and you can bargain

Cons - No returns, picking up can be a hassle (you may have to drive to a neighboring town), and we’d recommend getting the rug cleaned because you just never know!

Last Thanksgiving on our road trip home from Kansas we stopped in McAlester, OK to do some antiquing. This was not part of the plan, but Ester was tired of the carseat so we decided to take a break. We ended up finding a beautiful antique runner for $35.00! Yes, $35.00!

Pros - You never know what you’re going to find, and you can bargain.

Cons - You need time and energy to carefully look, so we’d recommend antiquing for other items too, not just rugs. You’d likely need to get the rug cleaned.

Pros - Endless inventory to choose from and lower prices. Great place to purchase jute rugs or rugs that you know will be easily worn out (kids rooms etc.). Quick shipping (especially with Amazon Prime)

Cons - Mass produced so you won’t be the only one with the rug. Quality can be compromised.
