How to Design an Airy Bedroom

Ahhh, the feel of an airy bedroom is like having a mini retreat in your own home. While we have a lot of color in our home, our bedroom is the most neutral space, and also has the least amount of decor. Our bedroom is our "minimal" space (although we still haven't decorated it yet, so we will see if this changes).

No matter what kind of bedroom you have, as long as you have one window and a bed you can design and airy space for yourself; you can create a refreshing retreat in your own home.

Add natural elements, wicker, wood, flowers and plants.

Choose a neutral toned comforter.

If you love color and pattern incorporate these pieces layered above neutrals.

Soft blues are always cooling and will make a space feel more airy.

Hang drapes or curtains that allow light to filter through.  Maximize the amount of natural light available to your space, keep furniture and bedding away from your windows.

This space looks more realistic in comparison to the other photos. Again, natural elements like the macrame wall hanging and jute rug make the space warm yet still airy and crisp. Low profile platform beds also serve to make a space feel taller and more open.

If you can, choose white or lighter neutral colors for your walls.

Use a large floor mirror to bounce more light and choose a more natural toned lighting fixture.
