8 Kitchens We LOVE - Gathering Inspiration for our Remodel

A Beautiful Mess

A Beautiful Mess

Recently many of you followed along with us on our Instagram story to watch our kitchen remodel. We're pretty much finished with all of the final details, and we promise to share the full remodel soon! It's just a matter of styling the kitchen and taking the photos in the best light; we'll get there soon!

In the meantime, we wanted to share with you some of the kitchens that inspired our remodel.

Everything about this is beautiful! But we especially love the darker cabinets against the white shiplap. And who doesn't love a farmhouse sink? Plus, these countertops are gorgeous!

All the splashes of color! We're still deciding what to do with our pantry door - we'll either build a new door, rustic wood, or we'll paint the one we have. Decisions, decisions.

That's the beauty of buying vintage rugs, the stains and wear they go through are part of their journey.  And it's really not a bad idea to get them cleaned from time to time. Our favorite place to shop rugs is at Kennedy Rose Interiors, Jessica has something for everyone, and her rugs are beautiful!

This was the kitchen that inspired us to change our decision on paint color. All along we wanted a white kitchen, but as we considered this decision further we realized that we wanted more color (I mean it's obvious that when you enter our home we love color! Have you seen our green couch?) One night while scrolling our La Cocina board we stumbled upon this kitchen, and that's when the decision was made. Our cabinet color is pretty similar to this photo.

Hardware inspiration - this kitchen confirmed that stainless steel appliances and brass hardware don't clash, whatsoever. Mixing metals is okay, don't be afraid to do it. (The same goes for wearing gold and silver jewelry.)

These cabinets! In our kitchen we had traditional cabinet faces, and not only did we not care too much for them, but the amount of time required to sand them would have taken much longer than building new doors and drawer faces. We decided to go with a modern / mid century design (similar to these beautiful yellow cabinets).

Encouragement! When we bought our house we didn't have too many options with countertops. We could have chosen a modern quartz or marble, but the upgrade charge was outrageous. One of the four granite choices was a deep dark green/emerald granite. Our kitchen doesn't get much natural light, but of all the choices it was definitely our favorite. Kitchens like the above reaffirmed that dark countertops don't have to make your space small and dark, but can actually create a cozy feel.

These were just a few of the kitchens that inspired our remodel. If you have a kitchen remodel in the near future click on over to our "La Cocina" board for more ideas or check out our remodel for inspiration!
