The Easiest House Plants

Plants can add so much to your home, giving each space a more natural and clean feel. Most of us are afraid that we'll kill our plants, and that's why we don't buy them. It's okay to give yourself a second (or third, or fourth) chance, and try some of these plants!!

1. Peperomia

Peperomia

This plant is super easy. Plant in a hanging container or a regular container with potting soil. Place near a window where it receives good light. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out almost completely. We water ours about twice each month (depending on how it feels).

The peperomia we have (there are many varieties) has beautiful dark green thick waxy leaves, almost like a mini rubber plant. The stems are darker brown and waxy as well.

2. Dracaena compacta

This dracaena is super simple, just be careful to place it where it can receive enough light, and you may consider rotating it every week so it doesn't begin to "lean" towards the light source. It requires minimal watering and grows slowly. With proper light and water it will grow better.

In the photo below you can see what the dracaena will do over time!!

3. Dracaena Warnekii

Another super easy plant, this one you can even neglect and it will be fine. It only needs low to medium light, and very little water. The little brown spots on our DW show that we gave it a little too much water. We will simply cut these spots off with scissors and either spritz the plant after or make sure the scissors were wet.

4. Pothos plant

This plant, we love!! When we brought it home about a year ago it was just a little tiny bush and look at it now. This plant loves being by our north facing window and is watered about every other week. It will tell you when it needs water, looking really limp and you may begin to see yellow leaves. You really don't want to allow the leaves to turn yellow, but it's better than over watering the plant.

We recently added a lime green Neon Pothos to our home...it's still growing and will soon be hanging in another window.

5. Monstera deliciosa

This plant is so full of personality, and honestly not as challenging as it looks. It's a nice monster ;0). It needs medium light and little water. This plant also loves humidity, so using a spray bottle to give it some leaf surface moisture will make it happy.

Caution: This plant is poisonous in some regards, just keep your children and pets safe. We keep ours in our studio/packaging room, a space where the pups aren't allowed.
