Enjoy the Summer - Summer Wellness

Today certainly felt like a perfect summer day up here in northern Colorado: around 80 degrees, clear and sunny, and a stillness in the air. I've never been much of a summer person, but lately it is becoming a season that I look forward to.

Summer is the carefree season, the season of spontaneity and playfulness, the season of fun. As with any season, we desire to maintain wellness and live each season beautifully.

Backyard Safety

If you have little ones you'll surely be spending more time outdoors, and they especially will. If you have an outdoor space you'll want to focus on your backyard privacy and safety. Consider the security of the fence and gate. Can your children play in your yard without becoming vulnerable to traffic by leaving the yard? Also consider the safety of the yard; sharp plants, biting ants, and areas where there is an accumulation of water or a swimming pool.

It's worthwhile to ensure that your little ones have a safe play space. A well-stocked first-aid kit will help you handle small summer injuries as they arise. (This is something that we keep in the car as well: witch hazel, cotton swabs, bandaids, and coconut oil.)

Hydration & Skin

Summer keeps us outdoors, and this means we're exposed to the sun and warmer temperatures in great amounts. Laying on the sand at the beach, soaking up the toasty sun, and chatting with a close friend is life giving. While living presently and carefree, it's easy to forget our protection and our water intake, and the consequences can be more severe than we'd expect. The health risks of dehydration are serious, and the hours we spend in the intense sun can cause both damage to our skin and our overall rest.

Limit the sun during the heat of the day, drink more water than you think you need, and protect your skin. It's worthwhile.

Traveling

The summer time is a time for traveling! While you're away from home you want to have the peace of mind that your home is safe and secure. Check out reviews at Homesecuritysystem.co or be sure to ask a neighbor to keep an eye on your home while you're away.

It's also helpful to be aware of possible travel security tips while on the road or backpacking through a foreign country. Keep the valuables on you, and secure, and lock the doors to your vehicle when you're out on a hike or touring a museum.

It's not helpful to walk through life in a state of worry or anxiety, and it's certainly not healthy. Laze through the summer days with wellness in mind.
